Tara Hope is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Teacher with a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and Bachelors degrees in education, honours psychology and English. She works with individuals, couples and families who are seeking peace with themselves and others. Her diverse background includes work as a school counsellor, coach, artist, and competitive, national-level athlete.
Tara uses a collaborative, individualized approach as a counsellor. Sessions are solution-focused with the aim of clearly identifying the issue of concern, finding useful strategies to address the issue and devising a plan to put those strategies into practice in real life. Tara always aims to include important aspects of her clients' lives to assist in the healing and change process. This may include cultural, spiritual or religious elements depending on the individual. She has facilitated many groups, delivered presentations and workshops and places a high value on humanistic, holistic counselling practices.
Beyond her private practice, Tara works as a counsellor with Upper Island Counselling Services, a well-established team of counsellors providing employee and family assistance to member organisations in Campbell River, the Comox Valley, and beyond. Her private practice is located in a peaceful setting in North Courtenay. Signage is discreet from the road pointing down a meandering, private driveway to the cottage office.
Mindful, meditative practice is an important part of Tara's life journey, as are skiing, mountain biking, walks in the woods, and a sense of humour.
